I'm back-translating a text and am having trouble figuring out what the Indonesian translator was trying to say here. It seems as if s/he might be using 'pergantian' in connection with working shifts, but I can't figure out whether it's the Indonesian text or my understanding of it that is defective -

"If 10 warehouse employees can scan 3,000 components in six hours, ______________________ needed by five warehouse staff to scan 8,000 components."

Can any kind soul fill in the gap?

'Pergantian' usually translates as 'replacement' but in this context I'd say 'shift' is more appropriate (as you rightly suspected!'). So your gap should read something like, "how many eight-hour shifts would be...". I think that 'pergantian shift' is the more commonly used term though.
