いつもお世話になっております。

「医薬分業が進んで、病医院と、処方箋に基づいて薬剤を購入する薬局とは、別々なことが多い」という文章で、「別々なこと」の意味がよく分かりません。この件にお手伝いいただければうれしいです。
I think it might mean something like "on an individual basis" but I am not sure. I would appreciate your assistance!
