In the following sentence (any help with this sentence most welcome) in the technical description of a polo shirt.

If this is a normal 3-button polo shirt, with an opening that actually opens (as is normal), then this is a placket, or a 3-button placket.
I did clothing tech. at college and then worked in a knitwear factory, so I'm fairly sure here.
The only problem would be if (as does happen) the placket is a 'false placket' and doesn't open - i.e. the buttons are decorative only. In this case I would say "with a decorative 3-button placket".
