mihaela. May 28, 2015:
succeed Exact la varianta asta m-am gandit si eu cand am vazut ce se cere :-)
ogavra (asker) May 27, 2015:
Multumesc mult pentru ajutor. :)
as spune... ...desire to make a name for themelves.
...desire to make a career for themselves.
...desire to succeed on a professional level.
Normal, sunt de acord cu variantele colegilor. :)
ogavra (asker) May 27, 2015:
In cariera, desigur. Sunt excelente variantele colegilor traducatori. Multumesc.
depinde... Despre ce fel de afirmare vorbim? In ce domeniu? Afirmare pe plan personal? Pe plan artistic?

(desire to) prove themselves

"Youths keen to prove themselves"
Other ways we could translate this:
"Youths keen to better themselves"
"Youths keen to raise their profile"

Just other suggestions, I would go for something you would normally hear. I would (personally) not say "affirm themselves" - I have never heard this being used as an expression in real life. But please note, these are simply my suggestions.

neutral Sandra & Kenneth Grossman : E rar intalnit si are cu totul alt sens. Afirmarea credintei, poate. //11,200 de intrari. Like... seriously? Din miliarde?

E dreptul fiecaruia, desigur, sa aiba ce parere doreste. BTW, "to stand out" nu inseamna "a se afirma" ci "a iesi in evidenta"/"a se distinge". A se afirma are mai degraba sensul de "a avea succes", nu de a iesi in evidenta.
neutral mihaela. : Faux friend!! "Affirmation" 1. religie 2. self help in sensul de "one's need of their own value to be validated by others"

Peer comment(s):

agree Sandra & Kenneth Grossman : De acord cu desire to stand out, NU de acord cu "willing", care inseama "dispusi sa".

neutral mihaela. : Nu, intr-o cariera, "to stand out" e mai degraba negativ. La modul general inseamna altceva: 1. project from a surface, project, stick out, bulge (out), be different, be proud, jut (out), persist in opposition or support ... s.a.m.d.
