Thank god, today we have a piano at home. I think music is a universal language. My children are getting interested in music and **I never rule out the idea of playing **piano some day. I also enjoy going to the theatre and having dinner with friends.

My children are increasingly interested in music and who knows... I too might one day learn to play the piano.

..another option. I think the present perfect works a bit better for the verb.

I keep hoping to play the piano myself some day.

I rather use something more communicative, since the text seems conversational, I wouldn't stick to the literal "no descarto..." that so easily translates into "not give up..." I hope this helps. Good Luck.

I think she/he's not "hoping" to do it but just saying that he may do it one day.
