Ukrainian term
колвек
Ukrainian to English
Social Sciences
History
(local dialectal expression, 18th century)
In a historical document about church history in the Carpathian region (a warning to anyone who would dare steal church items, dated 1743):
"Хто би си имал отдалити яким *колвек* способом от церкви святия ... проклят ..."
I work only in Russian and Church Slavonic, but can puzzle out almost all local dialect (father's area) if it's in a dictionary, and this is not in Andrusyshen's Ukrainian reference, Dyachenko's CS, or any Russian. I am helping a friend who is interested in this area.
Thanks!
