Jul 3, 2009	Tomás Cano Binder, BA, CT	This dictionary was recommended to me during a seminar on legal translation. Since then it has been a very useful reference in any legal work I had to do. Of course it should be complemented with monolingual legal dictionaries in English and Spanish, but it is an excellent starting point in legal translation.	5

Alcaraz Varó's team in the University of Alicante in Spain have created some of the best dictionaries in several areas, and this is a solid bilingual reference for legal translators. The terminology is basically that of Spain and Britain, but there are detailed explanations and many examples, so that the dictionary is equally useful to translators of the Spanish or English of the Americas. There are particularly good explanations in matters relating to the differences between the two legal systems. I have found this dictionary particularly helpful in legal translations. It contains many examples, key phrases and terms, which are of great use. I found this book useful with many descriptions of specific terms used in the legal profession. Definitely a needed tool for anyone involved in the legal field, and/or who does frequent legal translations.	5
Jul 15, 2009	Michael Powers (PhD)	I find this is a very good source, particularly from English into Spanish. I prefer Tom West's Spanish-English Dictionary of Law and Business over this one from Spanish into English. Nonetheless, this is one of the better Spanish-English bilingual dictionaries. It is quite comprehensive in comparison to the majority to the competition. Of the eight Spanish-English bilingual legal dictionaries that I have, it is definitely one fo the best three in both directions.	5
Jul 23, 2010	jacana54 (X)	This is a solid and comprehensive dictionary. It's excellent when I'm lost; and very good when I know what I want but am looking for a shade of meaning. I use it in conjunction with other sources when researching US terminology (in which case Findlaw's online resources —glossary, court decisions— and Black's Dictionary are indispensable), and as 2nd option when I cannot find a term in my first-choice English<>Spanish two volume dictionary. I find the organization of the entries a bit frustrating because words derived from the initial entry are listed within the same block rather than separately. An excellent source for civil law; it does not provide as much help for the big concepts and principles in legal theory.	5
