Volunteer translator for the Spanish Association for the fight against MS
"Destacamos la colaboración solidaria que Carolina Smith ha estado realizando con la Federación Española para la Lucha contra la Esclerosis Múltiple durante los últimos años (2009, 2010 y 2011). Su trabajo ha sido impecable: siempre ha respetado los tiempos de entrega y la traducción -tanto de inglés a español como de español a inglés- ha sido correctísima, todo ello con el enorme valor añadido que representa una colaboración voluntaria y desinteresada".

Master's degree - Universidad de Granada
Experience
Years of experience: 5. Registered at ProZ.com: Aug 2010.
My name is Carolina and I am a freelance translator and proofreader who works from French and English into Spanish. Due to personal circumstances, I have always switched between English and Spanish, which is why I decided to study a degree in Translation and Interpreting (which I obtained in 2006 at the University of Salamanca). Between October 2006 and September 2007 I took the Master in Translation (Research Profile) of the University of Granada, which I combined with my first professional translation work.
Since then, I have not stopped learning, taking courses related to Translation and attending conferences on Translation Studies, as well as taking part in two of them.
My professional background is varied, but from each job (even when I worked as a waitress) I have been able to learn something: patience while teaching English in a summer camp, dexterity to manage the most varied translation projects at TransPerfect Translations, the satisfaction of obtaining the end product through team-work in the General Foundation of the University of Salamanca, and a long etcetera.
As regards my personal interests, I am a lover of literature, cinema and music, possibly the three reasons that made me become a Translator. I’m also keen on outdoor sports, and I regularly go caving, climbing or hiking.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you wish to know more about my services, document types and rates.
