One of the countless devices used in dentistry is lasers. Following a successful education when they are used in correct indications with correct parameters they can be beneficial both for the patients and the dentists themselves. To enjoy laser dentistry to its fullest it is necessary to have information from correct sources firstly about laser safety, then about laser-tissue interactions and eventually specific usages of the lasers in practice.
Lasers have different types of wavelengths. Every wavelength has different interactions with different tissues. For the most effective investment dentists should choose the wavelength depending on their clinical application types after they have the knowledge of these interactions.
Although there are some areas that diode lasers have short-comings and have risks for patients by dentists’ wrong way of usage, currently according to price/performance rates it seems that they are the most profitable laser type. The most important step for prevention of any hazards is to have the knowledge of the risks that diode lasers have.
Nd:YAG lasers have the parallel indications with the diode lasers. There are dominances of both lasers for each other.
As Er:YAG laser can be used both in hard and soft tissues, it has a wide range of indications. It is very important for this laser device to have a wide range of modifications of the parameters to let the dentist use it in different types of indications efficiently.

Lazerler dişhekimliğinde kullanılan sayısız araçlardan biridir. Günümüzde fiyat performans oranı en iyi görünen lazer çeşidi diyot lazerler olmakla beraber bu lazerlerin de yetersiz kaldığı yerler ve yanlış kullanım sonucu hastaya zarar verme riski vardır. Bu risklerin bilinmesi zararın önüne geçmede alınacak en önemli adımdır.
