Source text - English Differentiation and attention to the needs of individual students was achieved through the circulation of teachers throughout the classrooms; moving from lower to higher order questioning techniques as necessary; and the provision of tailored developmental feedback to students. In a small number of instances, there were a few missed opportunities to enhance student involvement in the lesson. In general, more attention to literacy support and to implementing the draft literacy policy in a consistent manner is needed.
Translation - Irish Baineadh difreálú amach agus tugadh aird ar ghánna na ndaltaí aonar trí múinteoirí ag dul trí na seomraí ranga, ag bogadh ó mhodhanna ceistiú ísle go modhanna arda de réir mba ba ghá, agus ag tabhairt aischothú forbartha a bhí cuí do na daltaí. I mbeagán cásanna, cailleadh deiseanna cur le rannpháirtíocht na ndaltaí sa cheacht. Trí chéile, tá gá le tuilleadh airde a thabhairt ar tacaíocht litearthachta agus ar an dreachtpholasaí litearthachta a chur i gcrich ar bhealach níos comhsheasmhaí.

Translation - English The relationship between this considerable iconographic corpus and the story told by the novel treats of several themes, some of which we will later consider. We must also point out that this 'novel' (the term 'roman' appears in the subtitle), if already a complex entity in itself, is but part of an even vaster ensemble, standing in immediate relation to two other works of Elsa Triolet, Le grand jamais (Gallimard, 1965) and La mise en mots (which appeared a year after Écoutez-voir, published by Skira, in November 1969).
We are therefore dealing with a trilogy, or rather a sort of triptych (as the iconic dimension of the work is clear) containing however strangely asymmetrical effects.

Here weren't you away only last month?
Bit of sun 'd do you no harm though,
Put a bit of colour in them cheeks. (referring to bum cheeks)
SELINA
Here, you can have a look at it at lunchtime if you like.

Arlene - floor - now
Translation - French MAGGIE
Tiens, t'étais pas absente seulement le mois dernier ?
Un peu de soleil te ferait pas de mal,
ça te dorerait les fesses un peu.
SELINA
Tiens, tu peux y jeter un œil à midi si tu veux.
BILL
Arlene - au travail - tout de suite.

Source text - English WARREN fixes the SERVING YOUTH with a diabolical stare.
WARREN
You!
The SERVING YOUTH steps forward.
WARREN
What was it I told you about our English guests?
SERVING YOUTH
Forewarned is forearmed.
WARREN
And yet you fail me this basic task. What are you?
SERVING YOUTH
A Cur.
WARREN
And what is it the curs do?
The SERVING YOUTH glances at a hunting dog that licks its private anatomy at the feet of a handler. Naturally feared to draw this analogy he quickly blurts another.
SERVING YOUTH
They fetch!
WARREN leans forward.
WARREN
Do you hear in yonder rushes the wounded fowl?
We hear a SPLASHING from the lake.
Go hence with yourself and bring him forth, fetching poodle.
The SERVING YOUTH plunges into the freezing lake and GASPS at the icy cold. He wades out into rushes and lily pads while WARREN orders FERCHOR and BAEDAN.
WARREN
Deal with these hermits! Leave no one alive.
Translation - Irish WARREN fixes the SERVING YOUTH with a diabolical stare.
WARREN
Tusa!
The SERVING YOUTH steps forward.
WARREN
Nár chuala tú an méid a dúirt mé leat maidir leis na cuairteoirí Sasanacha?
SERVING YOUTH
Is maith an aire an fhógairt.
WARREN
Agus faraor, cliseann ort sa rud seo simplí. Cén ní thú?
SERVING YOUTH
Gadhar loirg.
WARREN
Agus céard é cúram na ngadhar?
The SERVING YOUTH glances at a hunting dog that licks its private anatomy at the feet of a handler. Naturally feared to draw this analogy he quickly blurts another.
SERVING YOUTH
Faigheann siad rudaí don mháistir!
WARREN leans forward.
WARREN
An gcluineann tú naoscach sna luachra siúd thall?
We hear a SPLASHING from the lake.
Imigh leat faoina dhéin agus tabhair chugam é, a amhasáin.
The SERVING YOUTH plunges into the freezing lake and GASPS at the icy cold. He wades out into rushes and lily pads while WARREN orders FERCHOR and BAEDAN.
WARREN
Féachaigí i ndiaidh na díthreabhaigh seo! Ná fágaigí duine (amháin) acu beo.

Source text - Irish Ba mhór an t-iontas leibhéal tuisceana na Gearmáinise, gan dul i dtuilleamaí an aistriúcháin, i ranganna sa tsraith shóisearach. Bhí tuiscint ag gach scoláire ar nach mór gach idirghníomhaíocht ranga agus ar theagasc an ranga. Is leiriú follasach a leithéid ar an sprioctheanga a bheith in úsáid go leanúnach sna ranganna seo agus tá ardmholadh ag dul dá leithéid.
Translation - English The level of comprehension of German in Junior Cycle (without recourse to translation) came as a welcome surprise. Every student understood almost all the class interactions and teaching instructions. This is a clear indication that the target language is used on a continual basis in these classes and is to be highly praised.

Bio
Voyageuse, j'aime explorer de nouveaux pays et faire des rencontres avec d'autres cultures. Je suis une inconditionnelle des langues - parlant trois bien et ayant des bases en plusieurs autres : le maori, le breton, le grec...
Is breá liom bheith ag taisteal agus ó mo thaithí thar lear i gCeanada, an Nua Shéalainn agus cuid mhaith tíortha san Eorap, bainim an-sult as a bheith ag plé le teangacha. Is é an rud is fearr liom a aistriú ná scripteanna scannáin nó teilifíse.
Having lived in three different countries for a number of years, I am sensitive to language and its various registers, degrees of social acceptance and the importance of tailoring a text to the intended audience. I have worked in education and the media (radio and screen) and especially enjoy translations in these areas.
