Bio
I have always been passionate about languages and ever since I was a little girl the foreign films with subtitles my father used to watch beguiled me. Generally, this foreign language was English, so I always leaned towards it. I was encouraged by my parents and teachers to study languages and before I was 18, I could manage in English and French and I had some knowledge of German, Latin, and Ancient Greek. This passion led me to choose English language and literature as a university degree (2011) and soon discovered that translation was my real passion. So, I enrolled in a Creative Translation MA, where my love for audiovisual translation was confirmed. In addition, in that MA I learned about the art of accessibility for the deaf and the blind, which captivated me.
When I finished the master's I started working as a translator and proofreader for Mètode (Popular Science Journal) for a year, but then I moved to Northern Ireland for 15 months and came back to Valencia to start a Master's in Foreign Language Teaching. After a few months teaching at a language school while studying more French and Catalan I received a call from Interpunct Translations in 2016, where I could develop my audiovisual translation skills. There I made subtitles, closed captions, audio descriptions and script translation and lip sync... but also translated and proofread legal texts, websites, brochures... and managed different projects until June 2020. Becoming a certified linguist for the Valencian Public Television (Àpunt) during that period is for me one the peaks of my career.
On the other hand, I have always felt a strong link with Academia and in January 2019 I got a position as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Valencia, where I teach English and Translation. Ever since I have been able to combine both activities.
Now I am a freelancer and I am open to new and interesting projects
