Hi,
I'm Kali, a freelance translator, language teacher and proofreader
with a passion for language, communication and the written
word.

Growing
up in a multicultural environment within a predominantly
Welsh-speaking area, I developed a passion for language early on, and
after completing my BA in Language and Linguistics at the University
of York, I spent a number of years abroad, mostly in in Latvia, Italy
and Ghana, where I ran workshops and taught English as a foreign
language to students of all ages, in a wide range of settings.

I
returned to the UK, where I gained a Certificate of English Language
Teaching to Adults (CELTA) qualification, before going on to complete
an MA in Comparative Indo-European Linguistics at the University of
Leiden in the Netherlands, where I am now based.

Having
worked as a freelance teacher of English and Welsh for a number of
years alongside my studies and other projects, I set up my company,
In Other Words, in 2020, providing translation from Italian and Dutch
to English, and proofreading English texts.

Alongside
this, I continue to provide online English and Welsh tuition, as well
as face-to-face language coaching and homework support in English,
Dutch and Italian.
