Greek national Nikos Stathopoulos, a partner of the London based British BC Partners, the company which recently acquired a 50.8% stake in Migros for 1.977 billion YTL, told Imerissia, a leading Greek newspaper, that they would expand the Migros chain store business two-folds in the next five years. Nikos Stathopoulos expressed that the ability of the company to accrue capital from local banks provided the company with a priority standing in spite of a higher bid received from Blackstone. Stathopoulos was keen to remind us of the fact that Migros was also active in Azerbaijan, Macedonia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
