I saw this free email article on CNN.com this morning and quickly went directly to google to see if they had any relevant link. No.. but they did have THIS one:

But if both this and Google's Gmail announcement are true, then it's a very bad idea to sign up with them anyway. It's webmail services only, so they own your mail, you can't download and delete it from the server, and they get to crawl it and index it for searching, ... But if both this and Google's Gmail announcement are true, then it's a very bad idea to sign up with them anyway. It's webmail services only, so they own your mail, you can't download and delete it from the server, and they get to crawl it and index it for searching, and they'll keep the index on their servers, as opposed to you being able to search your downloaded mail on your own hard disk only.
