Yes, but now there are other issues (it never stops, does it)
1. You're still trying to align your front text with your background image. It succeeds on the front page now, but it still fails on some of the other pages (eg the main pages for the languages).
2. Make the "title" of your web site more than just your name, for SEO purposes. Instead of just "Hester Eymers", try "Hester Eymers - Translation from English to Dutch" or similar.
3. You forgot to put your name on the "clients" page. Remember, people who visit web sites do not always enter from the front page. If I were to enter your web site at the "clients" page, I would have had no idea whose web site it was, nor what type of service these clients received.
4. I favour a navbar that looks the same on each page. This would mean that you'd still have a "link" called "clients" on the clients page (although you'd replace it with simply the text, with no link). The advantage of this is that the user will find the links always in the same places.
5. I like the fact that the language link always links to the same page of the other language (and not to the home page of the other language).

Trying out Googlepages is certainly a good idea. If you want to do things offline, though, you could try a WYSIWIG editor such as Nvu (which is free).

I agree with some of the colleagues here that you should have all links on all pages (apart from the link for the page just shown, of course), and also put them on one and same line. Visitors often expect to find such things on the same spot on all pages. You can simply put the links above the text instead.

Another thing: Maybe you'd like to know who have contacted you directly from your website and who has just typed in your mail address from another source? In the present version you have "mailto:translations@eymers.demon.nl" - so you will never know if the mail comes from your website.
You could change this as follows:
"mailto:translations@eymers.demon.nl?subject=Mail from website"
which will give you a neat subject line "Mail from website"

It's just too bad you're selling yourself short with the rates you advertise. You may end up effectively cutting yourself off from higher rates that clients might be perfectly prepared to pay in Western Europe for your language pair.

Unless of course, you are targeting agencies and these are your "agency rates"?
It might be a better idea to say something like "rates vary according to..." some blaba similar to what Erik has on his site, which would give you more freedom.
But your site is much prettier than his!!

Your site looks good in my opinion too. However I had a look at it from a different perspective: would you like to have it ranked by the main search engines in order to have potential clients find you? Without this key step properly done, having a nice-looking web site only doesn't help much (provided, of course, that you are looking for new clients through the Internet).
Having passed through all this sort of things myself too (still much to do, though), may I suggest that you look more deeply at least into these main factors:
1) Meta Title and Description: These should contain all the main keywords that already exist in your pages, and moreover should be different from page to page by reflecting what's actually inside each of them.
2) Use HI, H2,... -tagged text. This is also very important too.
3) Add more content to your pages (higher keyword density). SEs give good points to rich-content pages.
There are many other important tricks to optimize a Web Site, and if you have the time and the willing to do so yourself you might want to search the Internet to get all the necessary information to this purpose. Otherwise you can hire a professional for taking care of this very job, which is the real headache for webmasters nowadays.

Hi, if you gather from the proz site, you DO have an option of making your own site 'inside' proz.com. I noticed you don't have one on your profile. The proz one is quite simple to use. This would eliminate you using free-services from other sites such as google, or blogs (but that's a different matter altogether). Just go to 'My ProZ.com' tab and click in the 'My website'.
Anyway, it is quite good regarding the GOOGLE pages. There are others of course if you google the cyberspace.

I have changed the navbar: now it looks the same on every page. I have tried to keep the links closer together and more to the left side of the page, I hope they stay in one line now. They have also moved below the line, where they belong, I guess.

I have also included my name and the services I offer on each page, so an accidental visitor knows where he's stranded.
I have thought about using 'I' instead of 'we' (as Jonathan suggested), but I feel more comfortable using 'we' and although I am not an agency, I do work together with other translators, sometimes we share a job, sometimes we 'only' proofread each others work. So I feel the 'we' is justified.
Thanks for the advice on the e-mail address, Erik. I didn't know such an option existed.
In fact I do know when mail is coming from my website, because I don't use this address anywhere else (my provider let's me create as many aliases as I like, which is very handy in cases such as this).
I also made some minor adjustments to the content of some of the pages. Thanks for the advice, Alison and df!

When I was doing my advertising/marketing training several decades ago, we were shown the famous "Man in the chair" advertisement ( www.mcgraw-hill.com/aboutus/advertising.shtml ), which is an absolute classic that I will never forget.
Of course, your message is somewhat different, but I believe it is important to provide a "personal note" for your visitors.
