How did he contact you? An email out of the blue?
If that's the case, then watch out, it could be a new twist on the interpreter scam that has been going around for a while. Until now, this priest/bishop/clergyman from Africa was visiting your town with his wife and daughter who don't speak -fill the blank- and he needed someone to babysit them while he was conducting his business.

Here's how the scam works.
He'll send you a cashier's check ahead of time, that covers all your fees. Then, a few days later, oops, he'll realize he sent you too much money and can you please send him the balance via wire transfer or western union. Of course, you do it, and a few days later your bank informs you that the cashier's check was a fake.
Last year, this French-speaking clergyman was all over the place, he wrote to all of us French-speaking prozians. ▲ Collapse

I certainly don't want to spoil the party but I received a very similar request through my ProZ.com profile just a few days ago (for interpreting in Germany, obviously, but with the very same setting: three weeks, five days per hour, business meetings, no contact details whatsoever, deficient English in the message text). I moved it to the trash folder immediately as the IP address pointed to Nigeria. With the previous forum discussions regarding scam artists in mind, this sounded all too familiar to me. Interesting detail to compare: the wrong spelling "bu ssiness meetings" in the message.
Can you perhaps forward the email you received to me privately, including the complete headers, in order to find out where it came from?

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if this would turn out to be one of those many scams.
'Client' will send you a 'certified' check, will cancel the assignment and will ask you to reimburse the amount less cancellation fee.
The check will surely bounce, weeks later, and you will have lost the money you reimbursed.
Something along those lines. Many scenarios.
I wouldn't touch it, at all.

It does remind me of the Nigerian money promises ( with all due respect to the Nigerians, a beautiful and proud people). I am not going to accept it. It is too risky and my instincts tell me not to believe it.
I appreciate your sound advice.

TBH, I wouldn't touch this "job" with a ten-foot pole - it carries all signs of the Nigerian scam (no further investigation required).
