Multiple languages, multiple encoding? Thread poster: Mihailolja

Hello
Is there any way of viewing a web page in multiple languages in the natural character sets without having to change encoding all the time? I work for example with Greek and many Cyrillic fonts and find if I have the encoding in Greek then the Cyrillic is jumbled or vice versa, any easy solutions? Use another browser perhaps, not I.Exploder sorry Explorer?

I am interested in this question too, as I'm using both Russian and European fonts. Maybe there is a way of independently configuring the font of each instance of the browser; I mean, maybe it is possible to have one window configured to display the language A and a second window customized to view another language B.

I have found that,
if, for one IE browser window,
"autoselect" is disabled, in "view =- encodings",
and "Cyrillic (Windows)" is selected,
and then, for a second browser window,
"autoselect" is disabled
and "Greek (Windows)" is selected,
the browser windows continue to display Cyrillic (Windows) and Greek (Windows) respectively, when moving to another page in each incidence of the browser.
(I guess the ideal situation would be viewing unicode webpages, where each character in each language has a unique code, and can be identified without knowing the language it is meant to be in -but in the absence of that....)

Hi,
I don't know about IE but in Mozilla you can set the encoding to "auto-detect, universal" (universal not being the same as Unicode!) and it is working very well, even with Cyrillic and Latin fonts on one page. There is also an option to change the settings.
HTH!

thank you Giuli; Yes, I found out that you are right. I tried out the simple solution you suggested, and it worked perfectly.
