Does Word 97 have a way in which text can be highlighted (i.e.yellow background inserted so that it remains when the document is saved) without having to use the comments/footnotes function? I know how to highlight text and add a comment, but if I just want to highlight some areas for a proofreader to look at later, but don't want to add any particular comments, is there a way of doing this?

If you go to View -Tool bars and chose the - Format tool bar. You should have a highlighter, I use Word 97 and the highlighter a lot.
