I have successfully downloaded SKYPE and set it up.

I have a set of speakers connected to a SPEAKER/HEADPHONE-OUT JACK.

I have a headphone suitable for voice recognition and Internet telephony (Sennheiser pc110), with two jacks - one red with a speaker symbol and connected to the MICROPHONE IN-JACK, and the other black with a headphone symbol and connected to the LINE IN-JACK.

Now I need to do a voice test. I went to PC-ACCESSORIES-ENTERTAINMENT, and found that I had no SOUND RECORDER.

But with all the fiddling around, now my headphones won't work! (I have tried with a CD but I can't hear anything, even though earlier today it was working fine).

What should I do now?

My computer is about two years old (Acer Travelmate 260), with Windows XP.

try disconnecting the black jack from the headset Aug 20, 2004

Hi Ailish.
I think you should disconnect the black plug coming from the headset, currently in the LINE-IN jack. The line-in jack is to get the sound into the card from a different source.
This way you'll get the sound in from your microphone and out (from you CDs or from the caller) to the speakers.

Alternatively, unplug the speakers and plug-in the black "headset" plug into the line-out jack, to get the sound reproduced by your headset rather than the external speakers.

Speaker and headphone? is it not MIc and Speaker?

Speaker symbol to LINE-OUT
Microphone symbol to MIC

Has got your desktop a soundcard ? Aug 20, 2004

You should have a graphic processor and a sound processor.

It is a matter of hardware.

It could also be a matter of software.

I use skype since a couple of days without any problem. But with a low rate connection to Internet, the sound doesn't always travel with a consistent quantity of information.

Nevertheless, sometimes it is absolutely convincing and purely duty free !

Does anyone know how to make Skype work on Windows NT4 (I only need the IM feature)?

And any info on when Skype for Mac is coming out?

Thank you,
