I have been editing 4 texts, comparing ST with translation and making corrections.

With one text, I saw the ST, made the corrections, left a few doubtful items marked, then closed all texts and printed the edited texts for a final review.

When I went to look for the ST of one of teh 4 files it had disappeared, what's more I resaved the Zip file from Outlook and it still failed to appear.

Since there were no major problems, I decided to forget about it, and saved the 4 edited jobs into a new Zip file.

Lo and behold, when I opened this new Zip up, the edited version had disappeared too.

Basically, by now all the versions of one text have disappeared, the ST, the translated text and now my edited text. And it's all to do with the Zip files.

What's going on?

Seems that Winzip likes to make files disappear!

By the way, I used the excellent tool created by Traweb (see 18 aug) to search the forums for "winzip" and immediately got all the postings concerning winzip. Thanks Traweb!

Good luck!

have you done a proper search for the file? Aug 21, 2004

Hi Ailish, try going into Start - Find - Files or Folders - then typing part of the name of the file (without doc/zip etc extension). One other possibility is to go to the same place but then the tab "Date" select the last option ("in the past 1 day") with no file name selected from the previous page and then skim through the files listed there to see if yours turns up.
Good luck
