After an entry is made in the Kudoz Open Glossary (KOG), it is possible to click on a link to "contribute to this entry" (or "add comment" when browsing the KOG) and the resulting window includes an option to "submit a definition".

After an entry is made in the Kudoz Open Glossary (KOG), it is possible to click on a link to "contribute to this entry" (or "add comment" when browsing the KOG) and the resulting window includes an option to "submit a definition".
Therefore, I conclude that some KOG entries have definitions.
BUT
  • It should be possible to include these definitions at the time the glossary entry is made;
  • The only way I have found of seeing these definitions is to click on "add comment" while viewing the KOG entry when searching or browsing, and clearly this is not satisfactory. Therefore
    • users will not see the definitions and
    • the effort made in submitting the definition is wasted.
    If the definitions are in fact available by a more reasonable method, the route to them is not obvious. The definition, or a link to it, should be automatically provided at the point where the KOG entry is displayed, e.g. in a "Web term search".

Example: I have today submitted a definition for "Nachdampf" (De>En) and the definition has disappeared (except via "add comment").

Have I failed to see something that is obvious to everybody else, or has KOG failed to provide something when the need for it should be obvious? (If there are in fact very few definitions in the KOG, this may be because of the excessively indirect route to submitting one).

Thanks for a good suggestion! Apr 21, 2010

Thanks Oliver,

Yours is a good suggestion. It has been logged as part of a planned overhaul of the terms system that should be implemented later this year.

Kind regards!
Enrique
