How do I get my DNS required by my registrar in order to activate my domain? (I'm really not very sure if the question makes sense or not...no idea how to say this in English, Spanish, or Portuguese.
Will appreciate any help!

NIC pide DNS Sep 29, 2006

Hola Luisa,
Irina

Your question makes perfect sense your registrar needs to know Domain Name Servers address at your hosting account. If your account is hosted by ProZ.com you will find all information in Hosting Howtos http://www.proz.com/howto/forum/79 including DNS (Domain Name Servers) used:
http://www.proz.com/howto/229 look for Name Servers configuration.

If you have hosting elsewhere - ask them for DNS addresses.

No need to, Magda! And thx! Sep 29, 2006

Now I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! You're answer was precisely what I needed, as were useful the other answers in order to (vaguely) understand what a DNS is...

I posted the question in English, and thought it was in an English speaking forum. Then, a while later when I couldn't find the posting and searched the string, for some strange reason it said Spanish and Portuguese forums...So, when I got the answer in Spanish, I went along and answered. I was surprised when I opened an email from Proz calling my attention to Rule 4, English as working language. I was so convinced I had not violated any rule. I apologize. I am sure the same thing happens to a lot of translators, we are so used to switch back and forth between languages that sometimes we do not realize that we are on autopilot.
