Good day to you all,
When I close a job posting I would like to thanks all those who have sent their CV or replied and made themselves available.

I suggest that it would be possible to add a "thank you" message after closing the job posting. It is feasible through Connect, but I am so disappointed by Connect that I hardly use it these days. Many functionalities are just not working and I hope it will be revamped sooner rather than later.
Any input will be welcome.

Mirella,
I'm not talking on behalf of Proz, however there is no way they can do it, since you are publishing your e-mail address, and each applicant will be using their own e-mail system.

For instance, in my case, sometimes a job poster requests "Portuguese" as target without specifying BR or PT, which is essential (info on why available here ). So, though I can only offer the PT-BR variant, sometimes I write them suggesting they state it on the ad. If they need PT-PT, there won't be any need for them to contact me.
If your e-mail service gives you, e.g. like mine, "up to 10 e-mail accounts", and you use, say, 3-4 of them, you could create a "jobs @ Mirella" address for this purpose alone, and then separate folders for each such job. Your e-mail client software should allow you to control which messages were replied to, and which weren't. Likewise, you could have a standard "no, thank you" message as a template.
There is no need to send them all at once, since there will always be those that store your e-mail, and who will reply after the job has been closed. You can do that in batches, using BCC to all those you haven''t replied yet. ▲ Collapse | | | Mirelluk United Kingdom Local time: 02:51 Member (2005) English to Italian + ... Hi José,
I understand and agree with what you said.
I am not looking at the possibility of an automated reply or a dedicated e-mail address, with which we are already familiar. I was rather thinking of a box for addendums where we could write a comment or a thank you that applicants (actually everybody) could read after the closing of the job posting.

The pace at which we are working nowadays has become increasingly faster, and undoubtedly more convenient in many respects, but I do not like to lose the personal touch and good manners (old fashioned?). As I said, Connect offers such system, so that we can send a message to all applicants or individually, and as much as in the Kudoz system, one can add a final comment, I thought it would have been feasible to have such box available to the author of the job posting.
All the best,

Hi colleague Jose,
I absolutely agree with you that sometimes job posters do not specify what type of Portuguese they need BR or PT. Thus we both lose our time responding to ads which are not relevant.
Probably it will be a rule of thumb if they are more specific about their needs.
Good luck!

Use the "Make addendum" option | Sep 5, 2011 |
Hello all,
You should be able to thank service providers who quoted on your classic job by adding an addendum to the job posting page.
If you were logged-in to the site when posting your classic job, you should see an "Make addendum" button at the top of your job posting page, even if the job is closed. Clicking on this button will re-load the page and show you a message form you can complete. The message added will be shown in your job description.

Thank you Lucia once again (you came to my rescue more than once in the past),
I have found the "addendum" box and added a message. It is not very visible and does not stand out from the body of the job description but it is better than nothing.
I would suggest that such addendum could be placed in a more visible position or at the bottom of the contact details or just above the "About the outsourcer" section. It should be easy to implement.

It is gratifying to find someone from an agency who thinks of doing this. Sending bids out into cyberspace and receiving no reply whatsoever is discouraging. Receiving a reply, even a "thank you, but the job has been assigned to someone else," makes one feel like a person rather than "just another e-mail."

I added it to the list of ideas and suggestions for possible future implementation.
I also agree with Susan. Thanking applicants for taking the time to submit a quote is a nice thing to do. Thanks for being an active member of the site!
Kind regards,
