For the longest time I have been pondering what we could do with our browniz points - the members that is.
I have a suggestion. Why could we not give them (at our discretion. We may not want to give it to a competitor in our language pairs) to a non-paying member to bid for jobs.

I know that they can already use them to bid. But they can use them to bid as a non-paying member.
What I mean is that this person with the broniz points awarded would then have full bidding rights as a member for those given points. The bid would then be received and placed as if this person were a member. Right towards the top.
Lets say 3 or 5 (fill in appropriate number) of these browniz points are needed for this.
The idea behind this is that:
1. We can do something useful with these points.
2. This person will be able to get the feel of one of the perks of being a member and then might decide to buy a membership or a partial membership.
And may be, for this purpose, we can have the choice of donating chunks of browniz (say 100 or so) and not necessarily 4000 browniz.
This could benefit more people and of course, we can still have the option of donating 4000 browniz to those who wish to buy membership.

Hello Lucinda
I know that there are many reasons not to become a member and one of the most valid is not having enough money.
I'd like to help with my BrowniZ those who need "help", not everything to be done for them.
What I like in the system of donating 4,000 browniz which alllow to pay part of the membership is that the effort is shared, not done only by the donor.

Claudia, I was leaning towards what Ritu said. Giving a few chunks of points (she suggested 100) but it can be less (like 50) to someone of our choice for bidding or another Proz activity.
A limit could be set for a certain maximum of points to one person.
What I would like changed (only for that purpose) is that these people will be allowed to bid like members and their bids displayed as a member in front.

The whole idea is to let them participate as a member so that they can get the feel and thus become interested in purchasing a full or partial membership themselves.
Another option (suggested in another forum) would be to allow members to give a partial or full membership as a present to someone. Again it doesn't have to be one person purchasing the whole thing. A few could pool together and give it together. ▲ Collapse
