Swedish term

åtgårcler

Swedish to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s) contract
... som avgör vilka åtgårcler som ska vidtas för att gåldenåren ska betala inkassokostnaden.
In a document that seems intent on using words that seem to have bypassed most dictionaries and other sources. Can anyone help please.

Discussion

Paul Lambert May 6, 2015:
I would ask the client for the original If only to see what words are actually used. I suspect that most of the words are in the dictionary once you compare them to the original scanned document.
Charles Ek May 6, 2015:
Yep. I hope you priced this job accordingly. :-)
Deane Goltermann May 6, 2015:
This likely seems to be a converted pdf? 'åtgärder' fits perfectly in your sentence. And I've seen this kind of 'misinterpretation' in converted documents regularly.

I think that this is a typo or spelling error. The word "åtgärder" fits in with the rest of the sentence.

The word "gåldenåren" must be "gäldenären" = the debtor (i.e. the party who is debt to someone).

agree Paul Lambert : Yes, and this is a good reason why the correct language needs to be set on scanners when scanning in documents. These texts are a headache.

agree Nils Andersson : I hate scanned PDFs. But some are worse than others. When you scan a Swedish document using e.g. Wordperfect, make sure you tag it as "Swedish", this might help resolve the diacritical signs.
