- Este tipo de topologia foi muito utilizado nas redes durante os anos 80 e até meados dos anos 90. Uma grande desvantagem era a dificuldade para expansões. Cada vez que um novo equipamento era adicionado à rede, era preciso fazer um "refresh" de cabos para manter a sequência, o que nem sempre era fácil.
