- Флешбек (англ. Flashback — воспоминание, обратный кадр) — в кинематографе и литературе короткий ретроспективный эпизод или прерывание хронологии повествования уже демонстрировавшимися зрителю кадрами. В ролевых играх этим термином называется отыгрыш того, что случилось раньше основных событий игры (то есть это не повтор, а возврат). Флешбек является удобным приёмом, с помощью которого мастер может поддерживать интерес к игре. Для игрока флешбек может стать инструментом более полного раскрытия характера и мотивации персонажа. Флешбек как приём родственен интерлюдии.
