I have several example sentences:
1) Из теории вероятностей и навигации известно, что средний квадратический эллипс погрешностей определяется как изолиния плотности распределения погрешностей места и существует только при выполнении двух условий.
2) В противном случае средний квадратический эллипс погрешностей не будет соответствовать изолинии плотности распределения погрешностей места, а названная вероятность не будет равна расчетному значению 0,393.
3) В случае определения места по створу и пеленгу (или расстоянию) изолиния плотности распределения погрешностей места представляет собой два параллельных отрезка.

Based on a review of Sergei's suggestion above, it seems to me that the concept is to think in terms of an ellipse whose axes have the length of a multiple of the standard deviation of the probability distribution in each of two orthogonal axes (possibly rotated from original baseline axes). The multiple is determined from the math for a normal distribution, so that e.g. using one SD = 65% in each direction results in 39% joint, and using 2 SDs = 95% -> 90%.
Hence I would lean toward "contour" here rather than "isoline", where the contour is the circumference of the constructed ellipse instead of a line such as on elevation maps.
