This is from an article about a joint Russian-US-NATO ABM system. I know the terminology, but I'm having trouble parsing this phrase. I understand the intercepter missile has a nuclear warhead, so the "ядерная гловная часть" must belong to it rather than the target. The best I've been able to come up with is something like "... use of part of the missile by the nuclear reentry vehicle." But that doesn't seem like somthing worth pointing out. I can't help but wonder if the author isn't saying it quite right, but I can't figure out what he's trying to get across--unless it's just that the missile has a nuclear warhead.
