English term

droplet precautions

COVID-19 GBK English to Spanish Medical Medical (general)
Definition from Government of Virginia:
Droplet precautions are needed to prevent the spread of a patient’s illness to family members, visitors, staff members, and other patients. A patient will be placed on droplet precautions when he or she has an infection with germs that can be spread to others by speaking, sneezing, or coughing. Everyone coming into the room of a patient under droplet precautions will be asked to wear a mask to prevent the spread of germs to themselves. Hand washing is another important part of droplet precautions to keep everyone’s hands clean and to avoid spreading germs through touching other people or objects in the patient’s room, such as door knobs, light switches, or patient care equipment.
Example sentences:
“In health care facilities, we make sure health care workers use standard droplet precautions with the exception ... that they’re doing an aerosol-generating procedure,” Kerkhove continued. (The Hill)
Health-care workers in Ontario will now use what’s known as “droplet precautions” to protect against COVID-19, the name of the disease caused by the coronavirus. Droplet precautions include the use of surgical masks, gowns, gloves and eye guards. Mounting evidence shows the coronavirus spreads through droplets, such as when someone coughs and sneezes. (The Globe and Mail)
Kearney Regional Medical Center taking 'droplet precautions,' prepared for enhanced or altered operations. (Kearney Hub)

Interesante.
Saludos ;)
