render obvious

I'm not a patent translator, so my confidence level isn't high.

From The Patent Translator's Handbook (American Translators Association)
nahelegen - to render obvious
naheliegen - to be obvious
Naheliegen - Obviousness

suggest, propose

Suggest is quite often used in patent speech, propose would also be an option.
Uexküll, Wörterbuch der Patent- und Markenpraxis, confirms suggest and also suggests "to make sth. obvious".
