Italian term

Pistone scarico : D.63 x 160 + forcella con cerniera femmina

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Engineering: Industrial
This is part of a spec. sheet for a paint mixing machine. I think pistone scarico should be drain piston but have no idea about "forcella" : is it simply "fork" or is there a specific term...?

Discussion

Audrey Pate (asker) Mar 13, 2011:
The context is no help at all as it is just a heading in a table.....uffa!!!!
Silvia Nigretto Mar 13, 2011:
Audrey, your interpretation may be correct. Doesn't the context help? Read as I did, I have intended "scarico" as an adj. for Pistone. The omission of "di" is not meaningful: in the technical texts, we tend not to use prepositions.
Audrey Pate (asker) Mar 13, 2011:
I thought it referred to the piston at the "drain" of the machine, or the outlet/part of the machine where the paint is discharged. As in "pistone DI scarico". ????'
Silvia Nigretto Mar 13, 2011:
Hi Audrey! By "Empty Piston" I mean a piston which does not contain any painting, "discharged", with no paint left...
Audrey Pate (asker) Mar 13, 2011:
Thanks Silvia, but what is an "empty piston"?
Silvia Nigretto Mar 13, 2011:
Hi Audrey! I'm not an expert so I can simply tell you what I think. I'd translate pistone scarico as "empty piston" and, yes, I'd use fork for forcella.
