Japanese term

オピニオン・ドクター

Japanese to English Medical Medical (general)
I'm having trouble finding this outside of the context of "second opinion doctor," which appears to have no relevance to the text I'm translating. It could mean something like "influential" dr's whose opinions are valued (in determing types of treatment, etc.), but I'm not sure.

Example appearances:
血液領域のオピニオン・ドクターの国を越えたネットワーク構築
血液領域のオピニオン・ドクターにご参加いただき

Thanks in advance for your help!

key opinion leaders (KOLs)

KOL is a general term, but primarily used in medical fields. Like you said, it refers to influential opinion leaders among doctors.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you! The term KOL appeared separately in the text, in katakana, but I couldn't find a distinction in what the two terms referred to, so I used KOL for both. Thanks for the references!"
