Russian term

сэкономленные средства

Russian to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) Бюджет
Здравствуйте! Помогите пожалуйста с предложением.
В бюджете проекта имеются сэкономленные средства в части «Local support»-«Operating costs».
Мой вариант: In the budget of the project left savings from «Local support»-«Operating costs».

Как Вы думаете правильно?

Discussion

Rene_B (asker) Nov 30, 2013:
Имелось ввиду, что остались сэкономленные средства и их хотят потратить на что-то другое.
А насчет порядка слов я с вами согласна, мне нужно еще многому учиться
Max Deryagin Nov 30, 2013:
... Во-первых, не хватает контекста. Во-вторых, кавычек-ёлочек в английском языке не существует. В-третьих, порядок слов в вашем варианте вызывает искреннее недоумение.

This is absolutely the right word here. Well done :)

In terms of wording of the phrase, my suggestion would be as follows:

"The project budget includes savings from Local Support - Operating Costs."
Peer comment(s):

agree Rachel Douglas : With "savings" or "cost savings," but the asker's overall translation of the sentence with "left" and no verb is terrible.

neutral Max Deryagin : Do you mean to say that “In the budget of the project left savings from «Local support»-«Operating costs»” is good English?

Did you see me say that? :) I said that "savings" is the right word here. Do you disagree with that? :)

agree Vladyslav Golovaty : сэкономленные средства = saving (ABBYY Lingvo dict.) So why plural? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saving

I always struggle to explain things like this because I learned the language by living in an English-speaking country from a young age and not from a textbook. I just know that "savingS" is the word here... :)

The project's budget includes savings in the part named Local Support - Operating Costs

IMHO, такое построение предложения будет лучше

saved items

means, items or sums that could be saved, their spending proved unnecessary - might be another alternative in this context.
Peer comment(s):

disagree The Misha : One can't help but wonder what kind of items those may be - warm socks? Rubber boots? Unspent ammunition? On a serious note, your proposed usage here it hopelessly wrong and non-native.

disagree Sarah McDowell : Same as what The Misha said.
