Russian term

цапфа металлургических ковшей

Russian to English Other Metallurgy / Casting
This term appears in a list of permits. It is mentioned as something that is subject to safety inspections. I am up against a tight deadline, as a favour for a client, and just have no idea about metallurgical terminology. Does anyone out there work in this field and know this term?

Many thanks!

ladle journal

A journal is the part of a rotating axle, shaft, etc. that turns in a bearing. If you're dealing with metallurgy/casting, and ladles are turned/rotated for pouring/casting, I see no need for the word "metallurgical." Russian authors, like translators, must be paid by the word. HaHa!

Medium and large ladles which are suspended from a crane have a bail which holds the ladle on shafts, called trunnions.
