Russian term

Вальзамация

Russian to English Law/Patents Other Embalming
The Вальзамация takes effect in 10 days. This seems slightly different from the 'balzamirovanie' or 'embalming' What exactly does this mean?

Discussion

Shane London (asker) Dec 21, 2005:
Yes it was 10 . My apologies. Both typos were mine.
Kirill Semenov Dec 19, 2005:
Alexander Onishko w/ Kirill Semenov... Incredible mix. :)
Alexander Onishko Dec 19, 2005:
w/Kirill Semenov - ~"the body is kept safe for 10 days"
Kirill Semenov Dec 19, 2005:
Most probably, there are typos. I can understand " 10 " which means 10 days is the term until the body is kept safe from decaying due to the embalming. After the term the chance of decaying is high enough.
Shane London (asker) Dec 19, 2005:
Yes. The first letter should be 'B'.
Shane London (asker) Dec 19, 2005:
Sorry. I made an error there. I am so tired. It actually says " 10 " So the not in ten days but is active (effective)? for ten days? This may be so the body can be returned to Australia.
Alexander Onishko Dec 19, 2005:
the only slight difference is that = embalmment and = embalming

embalming

Только Бальзамация. And it's just a synonym of бальзамирование, which sounds kinda more professional.

Yes, it is effective for two days. And, again, no "В", "Б"!

Спасибо
neutral Alexander Onishko : маленькая разница - Бальзамация это скорее embalmment ( а бальзамирование - embalming) - я имею в виду, что embalmment - это сущ. а embalming - герундий

Спасибо. Но разницы не вижу.
agree Peter Shortall : According to the Chambers dictionary there is no difference in the meaning of "embalming" and "embalmment"... though I can't claim to be an expert!!

Thank you. I have a vague suspicion there hardly are any folks on ProZ whose #1 topic is the one we're biting at right now :-)

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks. As I don't know, myself, I will go with the votes on this. The typo was mine. Of course it should have been a Russian б. "

just a typo

"Бальзамация" is sometimes used as the synonim of "бальзамирование", so it's still embalming, balsamation, or embalmment.

Just a typo in your source, I believe.
