Discussion

Charles Ferguson Dec 5, 2012:
SPELLING! I must learn how to spell "asymmetric". Anyway, glad to help. I have had more than my fair share of help from other posters. Sean.
Richard Vranch (asker) Dec 5, 2012:
Thanks! Thanks to you all, that's great: thanks echo for that rendering, that's really helpful.

Kind regards,

Richard
DLyons Dec 5, 2012:
@Sean Suggest you post some version of that. I found it hard to make sense of what was actually happening!
Charles Ferguson Dec 5, 2012:
echo This is how I'd put it: There is severe hypertrophy of the septum (17mm), assymetric but principally at the base. However, there is no increase in gradient over the left ventricular outflow tract. There is mild hypertrophy of the posterior wall. A bit wordy but the original seems to me to be a bit telescopic. DLyons gets the meaning across OK.

yikes! As far as I know "gradiante en tracto de salida" is outflow tract gradient, but I am still trying to figure out a way of putting it all together...

predominant basal septal asymmetric hypertrophy without outflow tract gradient

I don't understand what "without outflow tract gradient" might mean - but that's what it seems to say! Figure 1 in the link may help?
Note from asker:
Thank you very much: that's really helpful. Richard

agree Charles Ferguson : knowledge of the anatomy of the left ventricle needed.

Thanks Sean.
agree raptisi : That's it, if want to be more technical, 'LVOT gradient'
