Spanish term

El purpurado de Pekín

Spanish to English Social Sciences Religion
El purpurado de Pekín –tradicional- ha dicho hoy por la tarde...

The text is on the church so I assume he or she is some religious figure.

Discussion

Could you add more context, please? This could be referred to just one cardinal or to 'purpurado' as a group of cardinals (the institution). In Spanish, is more common to say 'cardenal' when you are speaking about just one man.
