Definition / notes:http://www.writersmarket.com/encyc/g.asp
A rule imposed on the press in certain trials and on other people involved in the trial to protect the defendant's right to a fair trial. Gag orders vary from case to case, but generally they serve to prohibit lawyers, judges, law officers and others connected with a trial from revealing information to the press or the public. In each case, the judge bans from becoming public that information he deems harmful to the chance for an impartial trial.

Le "gag order" n'existe pas en France. Littéralement il s'agit d'une "injonction de bâillonnement".
