Error converting ttx files back to InDesign Thread poster: queenspeed (X)

I'm working on a multi-lingual project, the client sent me the InDesign (CS3) file, I exported to an inx file, the translations were done in TagEditor. Everything went fine, I have all 4 translations, but I get different error messages when trying to save the target as...
Error: "Unexpected error during backward conversion End Of Input. Please check log file..."
Can anybody help me fix this?
Thanks,

Hi Sanda,
Sometimes the InDesign files are too big for Trados to handle, and when you try to convert them back it starts giving you errors. What version of Trados do you have?
I have Trados 2009. Not long ago I did a project using InDesign files. The first time I tried to save the translation it gave me an error, another time Trados froze, etc... I have Trados 2009. Not long ago I did a project using InDesign files. The first time I tried to save the translation it gave me an error, another time Trados froze, etc... What I did to solve this was to open the inx file again as a new translation. Since I had everything saved in the TM, I would do a few lines and save them with the save in target language as (sorry, my version is in Spanish so I do not know the exact name in English), but is the option that lets you save the translated file. I found out, that if I saved it that way, Trados would not give me any problems. You can also try to change the size of the java virtual machine so that it can have more RAM available. You can find the Java Virtual Machine in the option tab under InDesign file in the types of files section.
Hope it works! Good luck!

Thanks, Mickey, I will download the new filters now and try again. I will let you know if it works! Please stand by, in case it doesn't
Lizette, I didn't have a problem opening the inx file in TagEditor, the problem is with the back conversion to InDesign.
Thanks!

InDesign Filters | Dec 17, 2009 |
Any time!
One more thing:
When you cleanup your TTX file, make sure to close all application.
Sometimes it helps.
Kind regards,
Mickey

Does anyone know if the new inx filters work for SDL Trados 2007 as well?
And another thing: do you need a special contract to download from talisma.sdl.com? I can't seem to get in, receive timeout messages, and the like.
Or is there another place or way to get these filters?
Thanks in advance! | | | Jerzy Czopik Germany Local time: 12:15 Member (2003) Polish to German + ... Talisma article 1893 | Dec 20, 2009 |
describes clearly, that those filters are just for Trados 2007.
AFAIK you do not need anything for talisma, just open the article 1893, download the patch and apply it as described. | |

Thank you for the extra information, Jerzy.
The problem with the above mentioned Talisma link is that I get a timeout referral ('http://talisma.sdl.com/sessiontimeout.aspx'), and get lost in the SDL site. Maybe the interruption is only temporary.
Do you happen to have a direct link to Article 1893 and/or the patch download? | | | Jerzy Czopik Germany Local time: 12:15 Member (2003) Polish to German + ... This is always so with links to talisma | Dec 20, 2009 |
go to http://talisma.sdl.com and put the article number in the search field. You will get the article shown this way.
To get a clickable link to talisma, you have to use the function "email" or "bookmark", as only then the link will be given as an abolute one.
You may also try to click herehere to get there - I ope I've done everything right and this link will stay alive ▲ Collapse | | | Tangopeter Local time: 12:15 English to Dutch + ... Well, it worked. Thanks! | Dec 20, 2009 |
Thank you for your help, Jerzy, both your links worked fine.
Btw, the link Mickey gave, did work now. So I guess it was indeed an interruption of the Talisma site. Sunday maintenance, I gather, so probably done bij frreelancers as well;-)
