Powwow: London - United Kingdom

Oliver Walter United Kingdom Local time: 20:00 German to English + ...
My suggestion: if you bring a gift, ensure that it is wrapped or in a bag so nobody can see what it is. Everyone will put their gift into a large black plastic bag (Arianna, will you bring one?) and then they are distributed anonymously like this: each participant takes one "lucky dip" item out of the bag (hoping that it is not the gift that s/he brought). This is how it was done last December and we all enjoyed the event.
Jack Doughty United Kingdom Local time: 20:00 Russian to English + ... In memoriam Re Secret gifts | Dec 2, 2007 |
As some gifts may be more suitable for men, some more for women, and some equally for either, I suggest they should be marked "M", "F", or "M/F" (or "F/M if you prefer!)
I personally agree with Oliver, otherwise everyone should bring as many presents as the number of partecipants which seems to be pretty high... moreover participants who intend to bring a present shoud let the others know in advance. In this way it is much simpler
Oliver Walter United Kingdom Local time: 20:00 German to English + ... Neutral secret gifts | Dec 2, 2007 |
Well, in response to Jack, I invite anyone choosing a gift to bring to make it equally suitable for men and women. So, no make-up, socks, ties or handbags, but perhaps books, chocolates, games, and lots more ideas beyond my currently limited imagination!

Big Santa bag | Dec 2, 2007 |
Thank you so much for this suggestion, Oliver - what a good idea!
I happen to have a big (huge) stocking at home for similar purposes which I am happy to bring along.
Also please don't forget the candles, biscuits and other items that make the event a bit more festive.
I have some candle holders which I can bring along, but unfortunately no time to bake any biscuits...
See you all soon!
