I'm about to cut 'n paste text with Norwegian øæå characters into txt-files. The files will be used on a web site, and UTF-8 without BOM is the best way of ensuring the correct display.
The website will use:

Is it possible to force Studio 2011 to save txt-files in UTF-8 without BOM? Changing ANSI to UTF-8 without BOM could change the special characters like øæå. ▲ Collapse

I have used Notepad++ for several years, but the problem is that Studio does not provide the format I want, and when I change the encoding in Notepad++ characters tend to change to strange symbols.

Instead of saving from Studio as ANSI, why not save from Studio as UTF8 (which Studio will supply with BOM, even if the input file was UTF8 without BOM), and then use another program to strip off the BOM? In other words, when you load the original file into Studio, tell Studio that it is UTF8. Don't let Studio autodetect the encoding. And when you save the file out of Studio, again don't let Studio decide for itself what encoding it wants to use, but tell it specifically UTF8. AFAIK, Studio will read a BOM-less UTF8 file just fine, if you tell Studio that it is UTF8 and not let Studio guess by itself. And when you create the output file, specify that it is UTF8, and Studio will save it in a perfectly good UTF8 file with a perfectly good BOM tacked onto the front of it, which you can then remove manually in a hex editor, or by resaving it using a text editor, or whatnot.

Lack of manual settings?

This is the core of the problem. I do not know how to save as UTF8 from Studio. Everything is done automatically as far as I know, and I do not find any manual settings.
I guess Studio is not that advanced I guess?
