UPDATE 2:
Dear all,
This is a quick reminder about the upcoming Powwow in New York City. I just made reservations at the Klimat Bar (www.klimatbarnyc.com/) for about 10 persons. I really look forward to seeing you there.
Where:
Klimat Bar
77 E. 7th St
(between 1st Ave & 2nd Ave)
New York, NY 10003
Neighborhood: East Village
When: May 5th, 7pm
All the best,
Koen
PS. Please update your attendance status. I think 10 persons will probably be enough, but you never know!
UPDATE:
Thanks Galina and Michael for the advice. Klimat looks very friendly! Shall we provisionally agree on that one? It does look kinda small and that might be a problem if the group gets bigger.
And should I make reservations, or is that something you don't do in a bar in New York? Any advice is welcome!
I look forward to meeting you all!

I'll be in New York visiting a friend for two weeks and I would love to meet up with translators living in New York or visiting New York at that time.
Since I've never been to New York I wouldn't know where to go. Any suggestions for a good venue are welcome!

Hi Koen, if I may suggest, a nice bar might be better for a big group of people, since at a restauarnt we would need a reservation. I know a couple in Manhattan, e.g. Klimat, Death & Co., and I can think of more options.

Dear colleagues,
I'm really sorry that I missed all of you. I was working at an interpretation assignment in Long Island that started at 3:30 pm. I arrived in Manhattan late and in the train station they gave me the wrong directions to get there as a result I arrived in the wrong area of Manhattan and the meeting was already over.
I hope that all of you enjoyed the meeting.

I'm so sorry too

Dear linguists and colleagues
I was just about to write the same note. I had to attend a family event that came up in the last minute. I thought I'd still make it, but unfortunately that didn't happen.
I would have loved to get to know you and share experiences - especially since I've only recently started doing this full time.
If any of you have the time and inclination, I would be pleased to meet you one on one or in another group meeting. I can be reached at ... See more
