I graduated both as a Technical, Scientific and Literary
Translator and as a Sworn Translator in English. I immediately started
working as a freelance translator for Roemmers Laboratories and several
particular clients (MDs, psychologists and, chemists). In the meantime, I
followed postgraduate studies as Consecutive and Simultaneous Interpreter (3-year course
delivered by Lily Mc Donough, former interpreter to the US Embassy in Buenos
Aires).
Always a multi-tasker, a few years later, I started working as Executive
Bilingual Assistant at senior board level in various multinational companies
such as Texaco, Nabisco, TGS (Enron), Revlon, BetzDearborn and, TeleTech, while
developing my activity as freelance professional. Corporate experience
introduced me into handling heavy workload, pulling together bilingual
documents to tight deadlines and, becoming immersed in the corresponding
corporate business. During this period, not only did I translate corporate
literature, presentations and reports, I also acted as interpreter to the many
visitors received by these companies from all over the English-speaking world
(USA, UK, Canada, China, Japan, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Jamaica, etc.).
My experience in translation, as well as my responsibility and strong
interpersonal skills led me to become Head of the Editing Department at M&M Bomchil, a major Argentine law
firm providing legal counsel to various long-standing companies, both in
Argentina and abroad. Here, I was responsible for supervising a team of 12
bilingual typists and translators who produced all the documents issued by the
firm (composed of more than 70 lawyers dealing with 13 practice areas).
My responsible and serious approach to work allowed me to capture as
clients several companies which had formerly been my employers; this in turn
enabled me to devote to freelance translation on a full-time basis.
