Olá! Hello! I am a Brazilian-Canadian linguist based in Vancouver, BC, since 2009, where I work as a Language Instructor/Coach, a Certified Translator, and a Court/Medical/Conference Interpreter for English <> Portuguese.
WORK EXPERIENCE: I have been working as a language instructor and tutor (face-to-face/online) since 2000. During this time, I have used many types of materials and methods with clients from Argentina, Australia, Belarus, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Switzerland, Taiwan, USA, and Venezuela.
As a Translator/Proofreader, I have been translating all sorts of materials since 2005, including academic articles, conference brochures, legal documents, non-fiction works, birth/marriage/divorce/criminal record check certificates, financial/accounting records and statements, technical reports from various industries, school/university transcripts, among others, for clients in Canada, USA, UK, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, and Taiwan. I have also coordinated translation projects in several other languages, including Russian, Chinese, Spanish, French, and Hindi.
As an Interpreter, I have been working as a court, medical and conference interpreter (simultaneous interpretation) in Canada and abroad since 2011.

I am also a Member of the Northwest Translators and Interpreters Society (NOTIS) and an Associate Member of the American Translators Association (ATA).
I have great experience in translating documents and texts from English into Portuguese and Portuguese into English.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
I have a Bachelor's degree in Sociology (2007) and a Teaching Qualification in Social Sciences (2009) from one of Brazil's top universities, UNICAMP - the State University of Campinas.
Additionally, I have taken classes in various fields such as Anthropology, Biology, Economics, Education/Pedagogy, History, Gender Studies, Geography, Languages, Linguistics, Literature, Psychology, Political Science, and Sexuality.
When I first arrived in Vancouver, I took several courses in Academic and Business English. Later, I completed an online training course in Medical Interpretation (mitio.org) and a specialization course in Court Interpreting and Translation at Vancouver Community College (VCC) in June 2011. I also completed the Medical and Community Services Interpreting Program at VCC in April 2012.
In January 2015, I finished the 'Certificate in Translation – Portuguese' program at the University of Toronto.
In 2019, I completed a Master's program in Educational Studies at the University of British Columbia.
