Italian to English: Berlusconi: Here's My Wild Idea, Let's Print Euros in Our Own Mint General field: Other Detailed field: Media / Multimedia
Translation - English MILAN - "Never having seen a situation like this, the people have lost faith, and are in shock over how the future is being described: quite darkly." said Silvio Berlusconi, intervening in the assembly of the Pdl member groups. In the course of the meeting - in which the ex-premier was in attendance, having deserted his court hearing in the Ruby case being held in Milan - Berlusconi also announced a "wild idea. We should go to Europe and forcefully say that the BCE should begin printing money." Otherwise, "We'll start to print Euros ourselves in our own mint."
The Party - The Cavaliere (Berlusconi) also announced a pledge even more directly linked to the management of the party that is currently experiencing moments of objective difficulty, after the start of the technocratic government and the electoral defeat in administrative elections. More precisely, "I am at the disposition of the party, not as a candidate or president of the Republic, nor as a striker or as a counter, but as a coach." And then, an invitation for unity, "We should be monolithic, not let ourselves fall back to declarations of doubt about our political composition in such a delicate moment. Either we work together or we fail." Berlusconi underscored.
INSTITUTIONAL REFORMS - Berlusconi then returned to the need to tackle a reform that takes the institutional architecture of Italy into account. Or the proposal that the government has already presented in the the past few days: "It is necessary to have an awareness that the country as it is now is ungovernable and that is shows by the fact that there have been 56 governments before this one, each one lasting an average of 11 months." "The government cannot recall a minister - he underlined again - and the Prime Minister does not have the power of appointment, this is all delegated to the President of the Republic of Italy or the presidents of both the houses of congress."
