Spanish to English: Cálculos, by Amos Oz General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - Spanish En la calle Amirim el señor Danon aún está despierto.
Las dos de la madrugada. En la pantalla del ordenador
las cuentas mal hechas de una compañía cualquiera.
¿Error o fraude?
Busca. No encuentra. Sobre una servilleta bordada
un viejo reloj tictaquea. Se viste. Sale. En el Tíbet ya son las seis.
Olor a lluvia sin lluvia en la calle de Bat Yam.
Vacío. Silencio. Viviendas. Error
o fraude. Mañana lo veremos.
Translation - English On the street Amirim Mr. Danon is still awake.
Two in the morning. On the computer screen
poorly made accounts of a ordinary company.
Mistake or fraud?
Searching. Not finding. On top of an embroidered napkin
an old clock is ticking. He got dressed. He went out. In Tibet is already six.
Smell of rain without rain on the Bat Yam street.
Emptiness. Silence. Houses. Mistake
or fraud. Tomorrow we'll see.
