Translation - English Wood Utopia
An irresistible range of wooden frames, for clear or tinted lenses, with an array of colours from natural to the most vibrant fashion tones.
Following the success of the first collection, [co. name] takes the concept further. From the ecological integrity of simple, lightweight designs to up-to-the-minute patterns in sync with the environment, the new top ranges are aimed at the true connoisseur. Using wood, clean shapes and fresh in vogue colours, the autumn collection boasts structural and technological innovations, such as 45 degree bevelling on both sides of the frames and alternating layers of wood in contrasting tones. A sophisticated and delicate formula based on aesthetic sense, harmony and oneness with nature - the cornerstones of [co. name's] philosophy and synonymous with good taste.
Italian to English: Maciste General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Translation - English Once again his nightmare took hold of him, made worse now by the presence of the police. It was him they were waiting for! And when he found out that an officer was stationed inside the hotel, his fears were confirmed .
By now he was a man who no longer believed in justice and who was all too familiar with the fascists and their connivance with the police. His mind fell back into its usual obsessive cycle. After Gesuina had told him about the day's main events, he thought that the police were not pursuing Maciste’s killers but instead were after him - the only witness to the murder - and wanted to lock him up and stop him from talking, perhaps get rid of him.
Italian to English: Giordano Bruno and the Philosophy of the Ass General field: Other Detailed field: Philosophy
Translation - English Before I concentrate on the 'Cabala', a further digression will prove useful. This chapter reconstructs the symbolic space of the ass by taking a broad census of the myths, anecdotes, and collections of classical literature. This journey into the past provides points of reference for understanding the diachronic development of 'topoi' that we will find sedimented in Renaissance culture. A comparison of the different materials reveals how the symbolic image of the ass manages to contain large areas of ambiguity, which in some ways makes it a perfect symbol of 'coincidentia oppositorum'. For ease of presentation, I have assembled the different elements of my research under three main antithetical pairings: 'benefic/demonic', 'powerful/humble', 'wise/ignorant'.
