Source text - English RESUMO:
Translation - Portuguese Abstract:
There is no doubt that anxiety and fear are an obstacle when it comes to the upkeep of oral health, reason for which patients postpone and even avoid visiting the dentist. Fear and anxiety are often associated to dental treatment. These feelings are a result of a series of factors such as: previous traumatic experiences, afraid of the unknown, fear of pain, and such. One of the factors which most causes anxiety is the use of the high-speed handpiece, which due to its noise and vibration exacerbate expectations of the patients. A new technology which uses the CVD - Chemical Vapor Deposition tips associated with an old cavity preparation technique has been used as a tool which makes a less invasive and traumatic treatment possible providing more safety during the cavity prepare procedure and also causes fewer injuries to the healthy and soft tissues.
A review of articles on the matter has been done with the objective of evaluating the effectiveness of the cavity preparation, using the CVD diamond tip attached to an ultrasound machine, and its collaboration in minimizing patient’s fear and anxiety.
Studies show that this kind of preparation has reached satisfactory results as an technique to the cavity preparations compared to the high-speed system, when comparing important factors such as microleakage, topography of the cavity preparation and presence of smear layer. Besides, the CVD ultrasound tips showed itself superior in the results concerning patient comfort, although the technique is significantly slower compared to the conventional technique.
I am a freelance translator and private Dutch and English teacher.
I grew up in Brazilian Portuguese household while living in the Netherlands and in England, speaking only Portuguese at home and my education and language spoken outside the house was English and Dutch.
I have been a translator since 2009, having started at a young age, translating articles for an international radio broadcaster. I began translating documents for social organizations and from then on branched out to becoming a professional translator.
Throughout the years I have worked on continuous professional development. In 2017 I finished Cardiff University's online course "Working with translation:theory and practice".
Currently I am in the 5th year of medical school, thus having knowledge of medical terminology and added medical translations to the fields of translation I am willing and able to work in.
I have also been aprivate English and Dutch teacher since 2011. I love literature and have done two courses in this area.
