Source text - English A growing number of epidemiological studies suggest that high flavonoid intake may be correlated with a decreased risk of cancer. Fruit and vegetable intake is consistently associated with a reduced risk of cancer. In 1997, the World Cancer Research Fund, in association with the American Institute for Cancer Research, published a comprehensive report, which examined over 30yr of epidemiological research of diet and cancer risk. The panel concluded that there was convincing evidence for an inverse association of fruit and vegetable intake for cancers of the lung, stomach, mouth, pharynx, esophagus, colon, and rectum. The Zutphen Elderly Study has been collecting data on risk factors for chronic disease among elderly men in The Netherlands for nearly 20yr.

Depois nos longos quatro anos que mediaram nos preparativos de cobrar tributos, de recrutar navios, homens e armas, de concretizar manobras de camuflagem do destino da armada face aos reinos cristãos, D. Filipa deve ter estado profundamente ativa.
Translation - English Once decided the destination of the crusade, king John immediately looked for his wife’s counsel, which proves that the king listened to the queen on important political matters. The princes were the ambassadors of the king and Philippa gladly welcomed the idea of her sons becoming knights in a holy war. However, after a long political deliberation, she opposed the idea of the king joining them, putting in peril the whole royal family. The queen’s resistance was only overcome by the king’s argument of wanting to redeem all the Christian blood spilt with the blood of infidels, thus taking part in a just and holy war (chapters 19-22). Throughout the four long years of finding ways to charge taxes, recruiting ships, men and weapons, and creating strategies to hide the destination of the crusade from other Christian kingdoms, Philippa must have been deeply active.
